Highland Lake Inn has 26 acres of backyard! Come swing on our swings, play tennis, horse shoes, volleyball, or basketball. Our gently wooded property is also a natural habitat for all kinds of birds and animals. Bikes and other assorted toys are also available for checkout, or you can just take a hike in the woods. |
| Enjoy Our 40 Acre Lake |

Meander to the lake and consider canoeing, fishing (did you remember your pole?), or drifting in the paddleboat. Our lake has some of the best catch and release fishing around. Take a walk on the dock or bring a book to read down by the lake under the pines. |

There's no better way to relax than to take a swim or to lounge by the pool. The pool is located in front of our Historic Cottages, right by the Pavilion. We have plenty of seating and umbrellas waiting for you. Stop by Season's and order something delicious to carry out and eat poolside. Pool towels are available at our front desk for you to use. |
| Visit Our Friendly Farm Critters |

Why not wander over to the barn to see the hens, peacock, and turkey chase the early worm? While there, be sure to take some pictures of the fancy looking chickens, the cooing pigeons, the friendly goats, and the peacocks. If you time it right, you might be able to catch the goat feeding (around 8:30 am daily). Highland Lake Inn is also a haven for many species of beautiful birds and other kinds of wildlife. |
| Tour Our Organic Garden |

Highland Lake Inn and Season's Restaurant are proud to support our core beliefs in sustainability and using natural foods for the freshest ingredients possible. What better way to do that than to have a two-acre onsite organic garden? Our chefs routinely walk down to the garden (when in season) and pick items that will be used in salads and entrées each day. In addition to vegetables, fresh herbs and edible flowers are also planted and used in cooking or to garnish plates. Throughout the summer, guests can take part in our Organic Garden Tours, Cooking Class and Lunch. Contact our Guest Services department for times and dates of these tours. |

We have partnered with The Body Shop Fitness Center, 828-692-7902, to provide our guests with access to a full service gym. Daily access to The Body Shop is $15/day and the hours are as follows: Mon - Thurs 7am - 10pm, Friday 7am - 8pm, Saturday 9am -5pm, Sunday closed.

During the first half of the 20th century, Johnson Farm was a summer boarding house and tourist retreat. Visitors are welcome to walk the grounds, visit with the animals, and enjoy two nature trails and other outdoor exhibits. Picnic tables are available. Guided Tours: A docent is available to conduct tours of the farm house, the boarding house and the barn loft museum at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm year round Tuesday through Friday. The time of an average tour is less than one hour. The Farm is about 15 minutes away. |
