Play In Our 26 Acre Backyard
	Highland Lake Inn has 26 acres of backyard! Come swing on our swings, play tennis, horse shoes, volleyball, or basketball. Our gently wooded property is also a natural habitat for all kinds of birds and animals. Bikes and other assorted toys are also available for checkout, or you can just take a hike in the woods.
Enjoy Our 40 Acre Lake
	Meander to the lake and consider canoeing, fishing (did you remember your pole?), or drifting in the paddleboat. Our lake has some of the best catch and release fishing around. Take a walk on the dock or bring a book to read down by the lake under the pines.
Come On In - The Water's Fine!
	There's no better way to relax than to take a swim or to lounge by the pool. The pool is located in front of our Historic Cottages, right by the Pavilion. We have plenty of seating and umbrellas waiting for you. Stop by Season's and order something delicious to carry out and eat poolside. Pool towels are available at our front desk for you to use.
Visit Our Friendly Farm Critters
	Why not wander over to the barn to see the hens, peacock, and turkey chase the early worm? While there, be sure to take some pictures of the fancy looking chickens, the cooing pigeons, the friendly goats, and the peacocks. If you time it right, you might be able to catch the goat feeding (around 8:30 am daily). Highland Lake Inn is also a haven for many species of beautiful birds and other kinds of wildlife.
Tour Our Organic Garden
	Highland Lake Inn and Season's Restaurant are proud to support our core beliefs in sustainability and using natural foods for the freshest ingredients possible. What better way to do that than to have a two-acre onsite organic garden? Our chefs routinely walk down to the garden (when in season) and pick items that will be used in salads and entrées each day. In addition to vegetables, fresh herbs and edible flowers are also planted and used in cooking or to garnish plates. Throughout the summer, guests can take part in our Organic Garden Tours, Cooking Class and Lunch. Contact our Guest Services department for times and dates of these tours.
Dine at Season's Restaurant & Relax in the Internet Café
	Our talented chefs spend hours assembling recipes and ingredients for savory dishes that feature succulent vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers from our organic gardens. Featured in Southern Living magazine, Season's is known far and wide for its lavish, family-friendly Sunday buffets. The restaurant serves breakfast lunch and dinner, and also has an internet lounge with free wireless access. Come by and enjoy an afternoon drink or snack while you are surfing the web!
Yoga, Massage & Workouts Available
	In an effort to further enhance a supportive atmosphere for inner reflection, healing, and spiritual awakening, Highland Lake Inn offers an onsite yoga program for all of our guests. Visit our Yoga webpage for more information about classes and schedules. We have partnered with The Body Shop Fitness Center, 828-692-7902, to provide our guests with access to a full service gym. Daily access to The Body Shop is $15/day and the hours are as follows: Mon - Thurs 7am - 10pm, Friday 7am - 8pm, Saturday 9am -5pm, Sunday closed. As a perfect accompaniment to the Highland Lake Inn experience, consider having an in-room massage to help you leave your stress and cares behind. Whether you prefer a lighter, more energetic touch or a deep tissue massage, you are sure to experience a memorable bodywork massage.

	We invite you to join us at the Social Hour, held on Saturdays (and Wednesdays, as well, during Peak Season) from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., in The Woodward House or Lodge Lobby.

	Our Historic Lodge has a Game Room that is equipped with a pool table, ping pong table, foosball table. With plenty of room to relax and lounge in your free time, the Game Room also has a large screen TV for those important sports events that can't be missed! The Lodge also features free wireless internet access.

Biltmore Estate	Asheville, NC
	The Largest privately owned home in America on an 8,000 acre estate with gardens, restaurant, gift shops, and winery. Segway tours are now offered as a unique way to see this beautiful property. The Estate is about 30 minutes from Highland Lake Inn.
Blue Ridge Parkway	Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee
	496 miles long. The highest point on the Blue Ridge Parkway and some of the most beautiful views pass within 15 miles of Highland Lake Inn.
Brevard Music Center	Brevard, NC
	A spirited deluge of musical artists, teachers, students of all ages, avid audiences and renowned performers from around the world. The Music Center is 30 minutes away.
Carl Sandburg Home	Flat Rock, NC
	Carl Sandburg, American Poet, historian, author and lecturer spent the final 22 years of his life at his estate, Connemara. Daily tours. The Carl Sandburg Home is less than 5 minutes away from Highland Lake Inn.
Chimney Rock	Lake Lure, NC
	1,000 acres of beautiful wilderness with trails and vistas that reach 75 miles. Chimney Rock Park hosts special events year round. The park is about a half an hour drive from Highland Lake Inn.
Flat Rock Playhouse	Flat Rock, NC
	The State Theatre of North Carolina. Over fifty years of performing comedy, American classics, plays, and musicals. Highland Lake Inn is only 5 minutes from the Playhouse.

	The North Carolina Arboretum focuses on the education, economic development, research, conservation, and garden demonstration with respect to landscape, architecture, and plant sciences. Segway tours of the Arboretum are also available. The Arboretum is a 25 minute drive away.
Dupont Forest	Hendersonville - Brevard, NC
	DuPont State Forest has more than 10,000 acres of forest, trails, and waterfalls between Hendersonville and Brevard, North Carolina. Eighty miles of roads and trails exist on the forest. This forest is managed for many benefits including watershed protection, protection of unique natural communities and cultural resources, forest management and demonstration, recreation, wildlife, hunting, and fishing. Take time to visit the beautiful Triple Falls, High Falls, Hooker Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. It takes about 30 minutes to reach DuPont Forest from Highland Lake Inn.
Historic Johnson Farm	Hendersonville, NC
	During the first half of the 20th century, Johnson Farm was a summer boarding house and tourist retreat. Visitors are welcome to walk the grounds, visit with the animals, and enjoy two nature trails and other outdoor exhibits. Picnic tables are available. Guided Tours: A docent is available to conduct tours of the farm house, the boarding house and the barn loft museum at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm year round Tuesday through Friday. The time of an average tour is less than one hour. The Farm is about 15 minutes away.
Pearson's Falls	Tryon, NC
	Pearson's Falls is located in the foothills of Western North Carolina and is comprised of 268 acres of virgin forest, spring-fed streams and a 90 foot waterfall. There are over 200 species of fern, flowering plants, algae and mosses in the wildflower preserve. The falls are located about 20 minutes from Highland Lake Inn.

	From Little Rainbow Row in Flat Rock, to the quaint shops along Main Street in Hendersonville, there are a lot of shopping options to peak your interest! You are minutes away from shops in Flat Rock, and about 5 minutes from downtown Hendersonville. You can also take a 25 minute drive to downtown Asheville and explore the art galleries and a variety of clothing and antique shops in the Biltmore Village area.
